Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that it's a isolated island to the west of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. There is an argument that it was the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her stay there was short. Brugel grew in Courtice in the town of Oshawa. Her early ambition was to dance but the growth rate of her body meant she grew beyond her dance partner. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that, in her heels, she stood six feet and one inch tall. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting and Brugel wasn't an exception. An instructor in drama at her high school pushed her in the direction she was looking for. Her teacher advised her to audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She was the teacher who suggested that she play a character in the annual school production. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program in 2000. She graduated in 2000 with a degree in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions across both screens, receiving the most media attention, when she was cast as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian on the season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
